Advantages and disadvantages of freeze-dried products

The main advantages include:

1. Long storage time that is from 2 to 5 years. The lack of water prevents the development of microorganisms that cause spoilage of the product. Within this period of time, the product retains its nutritional properties and natural taste qualities.

2. Convenient storage conditions and low weight of products. They can be stored at any temperature – from -50 to + 50.

3. Freeze-dried products retain all vitamins, nutritional value and trace elements (up to 95%). The shape, color, taste and smell do not change after processing and remain in their natural form.

4. Fruits, berries and vegetables are easily restored to their original appearance when water is added.

5. Both individual products and finished dishes may be sublimated, so everyone can find something to his taste.

6. Original components and absence of dyes, preservatives, flavors and flavor enhancers provide particular dietary properties of the product and make it safe and suitable for children.

7. Freeze-dried food contributes to the overall health of the body, as it has beneficial properties.

8. Freeze-dried food is guaranteed to be of high quality and absolutely fresh, because stale products simply cannot withstand the processing.

There are only two disadvantages:

1. High price. The energy consumption for sublimation is several times higher than for other types of drying. It is also important to use only high-quality raw materials for sublimation, which also increases production costs.

2. The consumed freeze-dried foods require a huge amount of moisture, so thirst cannot be avoided. Enjoy the taste and aroma, but drink some water!
